The Jewish War Veterans of the United States of America
- For 127 Years, the Patriotic Voice of American Jewry

What We Do

We work closely with the Spinal Cord Injury Unit at the James A. Haley Veterans Hospital and the Haley's Cove Rehab Center and Nursing Home. We take our ill and disabled vets to many outings, such as baseball and hockey games, museums, state fairs, MOSI, auto shows, aquariums and many other events. We also provide them with everyday needs, as well as periodic entertainment. For Memorial Day and Veterans Day, we place flags on veterans' graves in various local cemeteries.  We hold various fundraisers on those occasions to help support the post's activities for the veterans.

The Post Honor Guard is becoming increasingly in demand.  We participate in events such as:

  • Rays Games at Tropicana Field

  • Tampa Bay Storm at Amalie Arena

  • Tampa Lightning at Amalie Arena

  • Israel Independence Day Celebration at the JCC

  • Activities at MacDill AFB

  • Massing of the Colors in St. Petersburg

  • Provide a Casket Guard at funerals for members

  • Veterans Day Parade at Haley

  • Other miscellaneous events for Veterans-related holidays at Plant Elementary School and Carrollwood Cultural Center

Mission Statement

The Jewish War Veterans Post #373 and Spouse's Auxiliary are part of a federally chartered, service-oriented organization comprised of members who are men and women veterans of the armed forces or of the allied armed forces, associate members and patrons. It is part of the oldest active veteran organization in the United States and the only Jewish agency that can lobby Congress without registering as a lobbyist. Post members visit the Veterans Hospital, speak on community issues and work with other veterans in an effort to strengthen support for Israel.
